Vision & Values

What we believe

The values of Lifelink define how we work together to achieve our vision. They are the guiding principles that ensure the decisions we make are in line with our beliefs and not in response to pressures, habits or fears. The values we adhere to as Lifelink Churches Working Together are all hallmarks found in a healthy church community that is flourishing and thriving in the best of all God has intended. These values are at the very heart of Churches Working Together and keep us moving forward in the right direction. Below you will find the values we see as the fundamental traits of Lifelink.

Servanthood Ministry: Leadership in the church is only leadership as God intended when it takes up the basin and towel.

Life Joint Relationships: Our relationships should always encourage a healthy flow of exchange and bring out the best in each other.

Accountability: When we are awakened to a greater sense of responsibility for one another there is no room for independent power structures.

Inclusive Partnership: Co-operating together rather than competing in an atmosphere of mutual respect and the promotion of each others' gifting is key to growing together.

Consensus Leadership: Consensus leadership is something quite different to democracy. It is the willingness to create an environment in which we can all stand on level ground.

The Power of Testimony: Every Christian has a testimony; we need to be ready and willing to share and allow others to marvel at God's grace.

Bridge Building: There is much to be done to form meaningful bonds with other Christians and encourage greater unity in the worldwide church just as God intended.

Godly Character: Developing and maintaining a godly character is indispensable emphasising absolute integrity in all that is said and done.

Releasing and Empowering: Jesus invented the notion of empowering by providing gifted people in the church to equip his people.

Resource Sharing: There is a high value and benefit in the collective use of resources, taking initiative to be a blessing with our resources to the wider community.

Lifelink - Churches Working Together has a five fold vision:

Establishing: According to the grace of God which was given to me, like a wise master builder I laid a foundation, and another is building on it. But each man must be careful how he builds on it. For no man can lay a foundation other than the one which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. 1 Corinthians 3:10 (NASB) So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the saints, and are of God’s household, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Christ Jesus Himself being the corner stone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, is growing into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together into a dwelling of God in the Spirit. Ephesians 2:19-22 (NASB) With Christ as the cornerstone the church is Establishing a foundation of Apostles and Prophets establishing a foundation of truth and seeking to help all people everywhere, experience God's morality and justice.

Expounding: How then will they call on Him in whom they have not believed? How will they believe in Him whom they have not heard? And how will they hear without a preacher? How will they preach unless they are sent? Just as it is written, “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news of good things!” Romans 10:14 -15 (NASB) Proclaiming and explaining, by whatever means the good news of Jesus to every part of the world so that all may experience his love and compassion. This would include publishing and broadcasting, through study modules, books, magazines, tapes, radio, and television. Our aim is to reach all nations.

Equipping: He gave some as apostles, and some as prophets, and some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ. Ephesians 4:11-13 (NASB) Equipping individuals and churches by training leaders and making disciples, this would include the development of new ministries and releasing individuals and churches into their ministry and calling.

Extending: Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” Matthew 28:18-29 (NASB) "...but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” Acts 1:8 (NASB). Extending the Kingdom rule of God is the great commandment that Jesus left with the Church. Lifelink looks to see His kingdom extended in any way God directs us, and this includes planting new churches

Encouraging: Therefore encourage one another and build up one another, just as you also are doing. 1 Thessalonians 5:11 (NASB) Strengthening and overseeing existing churches so that the church is restored to that which God originally intended.

God’s intention is to bring into being a people whose interest and concern for His purpose would reach to the far corners of the world.

A church needs to be in good health just as a human body needs it. What are the signs of a healthy church? Mike Rimmer shares what to look for in a healthy church.
